  • Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visas are open to people with passports from: Argentina, Austria, Chile, China, People’s Republic of, Czech Republic, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Peru, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, USA, Uruguay, Vietnam 

 

  • Working Holiday (subclass 417) visas are open to people with passports from: Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom. 
  • You must be a citizen of and hold a valid passport from one of listed countries (People’s Republic of China is included).
  • Must be aged 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) when you apply.
  • Must not have previously entered Australia on a Work and Holiday visa (subclass 462) or Working Holiday visa (subclass 417).

  • Meet certain education requirement.
  • Must have at least Functional English(Overall score of at least 4.5 with a minimum score of 4 for each of the 4 parts(or equivalent)).
  • Must have at least AUD5,000 for your initial stay, plus the fare to where you are going after leaving Australia.
  • Meet the health and character requirement. 

  • No outstanding Government debt.
  • Sign the Australian values statement.
  • No previous visas cancelled or applications refused.
  • You must be a citizen of and hold a valid passport from one of listed countries (People’s Republic of China is included).
  • Hold or previously held one Work and Holiday visa (subclass 462) and entered Australia on the visa.
  • Have complied with all the conditions on your first Work and Holiday visa.
  • Must have at least AUD5,000 for your initial stay, plus the fare to where you are going after leaving Australia. However, if you are applying in Australia, you don’t need to provide evidence.
  • Must have completed three months of specified subclass 462 work.
  • Must be aged 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) when you apply.
  • Meet the health and character requirement. 
  • No outstanding Government debt.

  • Sign the Australian values statement.

  • No previous visas cancelled or applications refused.

  • You must be a citizen of and hold a valid passport from one of listed countries (People’s Republic of China is included).
  • Hold or previously held two Work and Holiday visa (subclass 462) and entered Australia on the visa.
  • Have complied with all the conditions on your second Work and Holiday visa.
  • Must have at least AUD5,000 for your initial stay, plus the fare to where you are going after leaving Australia. However, if you are applying in Australia, you don’t need to provide evidence.
  • Must have completed six months of specified subclass 462 work.
  • Must be aged 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) when you apply.
  • Meet the health and character requirement. 
  • No outstanding Government debt.

  • Sign the Australian values statement.

  • No previous visas cancelled or applications refused.

  • Most requirements are same as visa 462, however:
  1. 462 visas have education requirements, while 417 visas do not.  
  2. 462 visas also require evidence of functional English, while 417 visas do not.
